In continuation of her state-wide campaign, the All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River State yesterday flagged off her campaign in Abi and Yakurr LGA, both in central senatorial district.
Led by the state governor, the team included Sen Prince Bassey Otu, gubernatorial candidate of the party and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, State Party chairman, Barr. Alphonsus Eba, the Central Senatorial Candidate and Speaker, State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones and other stakeholders.
The team earlier met with the traditional rulers of both LGAs and their council of chiefs.
Receiving the team, the Obol Lopon and paramount ruler of Yakurr, HRM, Obol Ofem Ubana appreciated the team for their visit and assured them of victory during the election
"Yakurr's 84,000 votes is for APC, Prince Bassey is the next governor of Cross River State" he said.
The royal father offered blessings and support to the APC candidates, describing Otu as the right man for the job.
At the rally, the gubernatorial hopeful expressed gratitude for the rousing and warm reception, he assured them of better days ahead.
"Cross River State has come of age, the greatest impendiment of the state is our inability to put in place a productive and pragmatic structure, today we have a man who has laid the foundation for our dear State.
Assuring the people of Adadama community in Abi LGA, Sen. Otu said
"The crises in Adadama will be a thing of the past, Cross River is known for its peaceful nature, we will ensure peace in our communities.
In Yakurr LGA, Sen. Otu who appreciated them for the massive turnout reminded them of his track record at the national assembly and assured them of his ability to effectively manage the affairs of the state.
"Yakurr people I want to let you know that I will be coming back soon to continue this conversation. I want to sit with your stakeholders and other leaders and discuss about the progress of the Yakurr nation.
"I was told that when the other party came here, they said when we come, you should ask me of my experience. I stand here to say that in this race, there is no governorship candidate that matches my experience. I have chaired international committees of finance across the globe. When I was in the house of representatives, I sponsored a bill that completely changed the face of the oil and gas sector When I was in the Senate, I chaired the Senate committee on finance and later banking and I changed the face of the banking sector drastically. Before then banks will always run away with depositors money. But I introduced an impressive system that has ensured the security of depositors fund and ever since then, no bank has ever run away with people’s money
"Please be part of the system by supporting the seamless rotation of power which has brought us peace" he concluded.
Speaking, Governor Ben who told the people to rally round support for the APC governorship candidate and others said it will not fair and right for anyone in the central to demand power shift to them when they were the ones who handed over to him.
"For equity, justice and fairness, let us join hands with our brothers from the south amd ensure that power returns to them"
